[h2]The Civil Engineering Degree[/h2]

The most well known engineer to the average person is the one that builds bridges, buildings, railroads and other structures. These engineers are better known as civil engineers and most likely earned a Civil Engineering Degree at some point in his or her life. If you are thinking about a career in civil engineering, you should ask yourself a few questions. How are your math and science skills? Does solving problems come naturally to you? Are you able to communicate effectively with team members and clients? These are just a few of the characteristics necessary to be a successful civil engineer and to successfully complete a Civil Engineering Degree.

The Civil Engineering Degree program includes many math, science and engineering courses. Because the civil engineering industry includes areas such as construction, environmental engineering, structural, and transportation, you will take a wide variety of courses in college. Some of the classes that you may take include vector geometry, calculus, physics, chemistry, material science, and mechanics classes. There are many types of specialties that civil engineers may choose to major in, or pursue a career in, such as transportation engineering, earthquake engineering, highway engineering, geotechnical engineering and hydraulic engineering.

Those that work in these industries are all considered civil engineers and most likely have a Civil Engineering Degree. The Civil Engineering Degree is typically, at minimum, a four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. There are many schools that offer this degree on campus and as an online degree. Upon completion of this course program, you may choose to further your education with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering as well. With a Master’s Degree, you will dive deep into a particular civil engineering specialty and become an extremely desirable candidate for a position in the industry.
