The Aerospace – Aviation Engineering Degree
Aerospace engineers are those people who design and create high-speed transportation vehicles including airplanes, missiles and space shuttles. This high-tech industry requires intelligent and well-learned individuals who most likely have earned an Aerospace Engineering Degree from an Accredited College or University. The Aerospace Engineering Degree, or Aviation Engineering Degree as it is called at some schools, requires studying a combination of engineering, aerospace technology, and management. While studying for this type of degree, classes you will most likely take include avionics, controls, propulsion, structure and thermodynamics. These courses are a combination of science and engineering, and are taught progressively to ensure that students fully understand each subject before moving on to more advanced studies.

Some colleges will offer specialization in either aircraft (airplanes and missiles) or spacecraft, such as space shuttles and lunar vehicles. With a Degree in Aerospace Engineering, you may work in a number of different aerospace industry areas such as research, development and design, marketing, sales, software development, teaching or field service. If you are thinking about going to school for Aerospace Engineering, you may consider a number of different degree levels depending on what kind of job you are looking for.

Although there are Associate’s Degrees in Aerospace Engineering, you will be encouraged to enroll directly into a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering. The Associate’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering typically requires you to already have a Bachelor’s Degree in another form of engineering and therefore it is not your typical Associate’s Degree. The Bachelor’s Degree will typically take four years to complete and at this time you can choose to either further your education with a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering or enter the workforce with a private company or government organization.
